What it keeps, and why

Decided on your PC from what it finds, before anything changes. The free report lists these for your machine.

Services (109)

Stopped and set to manual or disabled, never deleted. Anything in the table above stays when your PC needs it. Services can start any one of them again.

Scheduled tasks (60)

Disabled, not deleted. Plus NVIDIA's crash-report and updater tasks when an NVIDIA card is found. Task Scheduler can enable any of them again.

Preinstalled apps (114 patterns)

Removed for your account when present. Each comes back from the Microsoft Store. Patterns with a star match the third-party apps some PCs ship with. The Xbox apps go only with -CutXbox.

Legacy pieces of Windows (13)

Removed when present. Fax and Scan stays when a printer is installed; Hello face stays when a Hello camera or reader is present. Undo puts every one back (a capability needs Windows Update reachable to come back). OneDrive is uninstalled only when nobody is signed in to it; your files stay, and undo reinstalls it.

Registry values (157)

Every value written, by section. The value it had before is recorded and undo writes it back; a value that did not exist is removed again.

Service hosts, grouped

Every run since 1.85.0 lets Windows' services share their svchost.exe again, as on a PC with less than 3.5 GB of memory: about twenty processes fewer after a restart (measured on a clean Windows 11: 95 before, 78 after). Since 1.92.0 every service shares its group's host, as Windows itself runs them on those PCs; from 1.85.0 to 1.91.0 eight (sound, sound devices, the network address, name lookups, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WMI, Windows Update) kept a host of their own, and a PC an earlier run set that way gets Windows' own setting back. A service that crashes takes the others in its host with it until Windows starts them again, most within a minute. The status command lists any service that stopped unexpectedly; -NoGroup, or the app's "Group service hosts" box unticked, leaves the hosts as Windows splits them. Known issues.

Extreme, only when asked (33 more services)

The second command on the key page. Everything above, then these services, the shell drawn plain (transparency, animations, shadows, taskbar badges, toasts and the search box off), exclusive fullscreen honoured for every game, memory compression off with 16 GB or more, the dynamic tick off on desktops, and the Xbox pieces gone unless Game Pass, the Xbox app, Minecraft or a controller is found. It asks first. Every line is recorded and undone like the rest; putting back after an update leaves the shell choices alone.

More cuts, only the ones you tick (13)

A box each under MORE CUTS on the app's Tune tab, none ticked unless you tick it, each with what it does, the risk and what it saves on your PC written under it; -Cut names them from the command line. Recorded and undone like the rest, and put back like the rest after an update; untick one and run again to put it back. Windows Security, the firewall and your antivirus are never among them.

Games it writes a profile for (49)

By the game's own executable name, so it applies wherever the game is installed: CPU priority high, I/O and memory priority raised, the high-performance GPU, fullscreen optimisations off. The report adds each game's competitive in-game settings. Vanguard, Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye, Ricochet and every game file are never touched.

Settings inside the games' own files (9 games)

Only a line already in the file changes, and only when its value has the shape the game uses; a setting a game has renamed is left alone, never added. Each file is backed up first, a running game is skipped, and undo puts back each value it replaced. VALORANT, Overwatch 2 and League of Legends keep their settings in the account, so their files are left alone.

The PC maker's own apps, in Extreme only (16)

Support agents and promotions go on every PC. The hubs that run the fans, the battery limit and the hotkeys go only on a desktop and stay on a laptop. Undo lists every one; each is in the Microsoft Store or on the maker's site.

What putting it back after an update checks

Nothing of the tune runs at sign-in or in the background to watch for updates (since 1.117.0). When you ask, by running the command again, pressing Put them back in the OmniDx Hub (it checks when you open it) or running keep.ps1, it compares every service, scheduled task and registry value above with the machine and sets again what a Windows update turned back on. It never adds anything, and anything under these paths is left alone on purpose: if it changed after the tune, it was you, in Settings or Task Manager, and that wins.
